The point rotates on an eccentric axis, letting you adjust the radius by simply turning the point carrier. This means you can fine-tune the size of your circle without having to reset the 8 legs, which open to 8 3/4 and lock at any position with a brass knob and clamping bar. Brass thumbscrews hold the point carrier and a pencil firmly.
