The famous fishnet décor adorning many of the animals took form in 1858 when a Herend painter became inspired by a fishscale design he saw on a Chinese porcelain plate and painted a similar pattern onto a rooster figurine to imitate feathers.

A Herend classic. Originally created in 1930 for Count Albert Apponyi, the pattern features a center motif of a stylized peony surrounded by a garland of leaves with 24K gold rosettes. It is available in multiple color options. Hand painted in Hungary. Material: Hand painted porcelain Hand washing in mild detergent is recommended. Avoid abrasives and lemon-based soaps.
