Laphroaig 25 Year Old is the perfect marriage of sherried, oaky flavours from the European Oloroso Sherry Casks and the creamy, smooth, sweet flavours from the ex-American Bourbon Barrels. The Oloroso Sherry Casks and ex-American Bourbon Barrels were filled with newly distilled Laphroaig spirit from day one. When you marry together the sherried, oaky flavours from the 2nd fill European Oak Oloroso Sherry Casks with the creamy, smooth, sweet flavours from the ex American Oak Bourbon barrels you end up with a marriage made in heaven. Bottled at 45.1% ABV, it is a perfect fusion of these two most different styles of maturation flavours, made even smoother by the 25 years it has had gently maturing. Tasting Notes: Color : Bright Red Gold Aroma: At bottling strength the aroma seems quite closed giving only a rich, sweet scent but a touch of water releases all the multitude of different flavours. The initial sweet, sherry sweetness is quickly followed by the time-honoured Islay peat tang. After this opening burst of flavour there is a smooth fruit ripeness that complements the tang of salt in the background. Mouthfeel: Rich round and full. Taste: The burst of peat that fills the mouth is quickly restrained by a sherry sweetness that slowly develops into spicy apple fruitiness. Finish: Very long and warming leaving a distinct tang of Islay.

Laphroaig 25 year old Cask Strength Limited Release 2020

The exceptional character of this expression intertwined with Laphroaigs signature flavours makes it truly one to savour. With spirit aged in ex-Bourbon casks, carefully matured for 25 years, this non-chill filtered Malt is a subtle and elegant Whisky featuring notes of sweet vanilla, oak and signature Islay peat smoke. Sweet and floral aromas with honey and pear drop. Bubble-gum and strong thyme fragrance linger on the nose.

Soft and velvety on the tongue, although at 51.9% you could have expected something else. Smoothly smoky and creamy on the tongue and immediately topped with sweet smoked apricots and peaches. At the beginning hardly dry and only slightly oak embossed. In return, the proportion of peat smoke increases significantly with time, salty spray, a touch of machine oil, warm tar, licorice and pepper, later old leather, tobacco leaves, mocha beans and dark chocolate.
