The exterior binding is 2mm black elastic cord. The interior binding and bookmarks are 1.5mm black elastic cord. Very nice. The leather is extra soft and very thick 8-9 oz. natural Vegetable tanned leather. The edges are left natural and unburnished. If you are in to natural leather durable goods then you love the aging process of this leather. Leather patina. Gotta love it. Patina. There's something warm and easy to handle about a bulging set of notebooks wrapped in a comfortable leather cover crammed with some biz cards, and other scraps of ephemera inside. So, so nice!
