The St Michel family bakery was founded in 1905. Since then over the years they studied their recipes and processes, learning them inside and out. Today, their pastry chefs continue to uphold their traditional know-how, and pass it on day-by-day to the younger generations.
The brand's iconic St Michel Galettes biscuit was created in 1905 by Joseph Grellier, a pastry chef at St Michel Chef Chef. With his secret recipe he baked some round golden biscuits and marked them with an archangel as a tribute to a village monastery of the Archangel St Michel. With them being so popular in their local village, Joseph's wife decided to take them to the beaches along the coast, where Fine ladies of Paris would bathe in the sea, this was the start of their success.
