Like its cousin the Australian tea tree, the oil from the leaves of the New Zealand Tea Tree has strong antibacterial properties. This variety of tea tree is most notably known for the “manuka” honey made by bees that pollinate it. This honey takes on many of the characteristics of the oils of the plant and is also associated with a wide range of health benefits. When blooming the plant is decorated with half inch flowers which provide bees with an excellent food source. 

Good container plant, benefits from fall pruning. Typically a shrub about 7-15’ tall, but can grow much taller in ideal conditions. 

Can also be grown as a bonsai!

Water: Low - Moderate 

Soil: well drained, slightly acidic
